Find the note

Setting up the fretboard…

Learn the notes on the guitar fretboard

Knowing where every note lives makes chords, scales and songs click. Find the note teaches the neck in short rounds, a few strings and frets at a time, and keeps a map of what you know.

Ways to practice

Where to start

Begin with the low E and A strings, where most chords have their root. Then the first five frets on every string, then the whole neck up to the 12th fret. Between rounds, the neck shows the spots you know well in green and marks the ones that need work.
